OEE multiplies three rates, so a modest drop in each compounds — 90% × 90% × 90% is only 73%. Performance can appear above 100% if the actual cycle beat the ideal (usually a sign the ideal cycle time is set too slow, or of a counting error) — treat that as a flag to review your ideal cycle time. The Six Big Losses split here is derived from your headline inputs; a full loss analysis needs categorised downtime and reject logging from the line. Benchmark bands are widely cited conventions, not universal targets — a realistic target depends on your industry, equipment age and process. Use this for tracking and improvement, alongside proper shop-floor data collection.
