Standard scaling is linear between the lower and upper range values, so a signal at mid-scale maps to the mid-point of the range — except with square-root extraction, where a differential-pressure flow signal at 50% represents about 71% of flow, because the DP signal follows the square of flow. Accuracy specifications differ: percent of span gives a constant error band across the range, while percent of reading gives a band that shrinks toward zero, so a transmitter can look very accurate near full-scale and much less so near the bottom. Always confirm the transmitter's configured range and accuracy basis against its datasheet and calibration record — this tool assumes an ideal, correctly calibrated linear device.
