How to Use
This tool has three tabs: BMI, Unit & Dosage Math and Body Surface Area.
Step 1: Using BMI mode
- Select your Unit System, Metric (kg, cm) or Imperial (lb, in).
- Enter Weight and Height in your chosen units.
- Tap Calculate. The result shows the BMI value and its WHO adult category. This mode is for adults only, children and adolescents need age- and sex-specific growth-chart percentiles instead of this formula.
Step 2: Using Unit & Dosage Math mode
- Under Mass Unit Conversion, enter an Amount and its From Unit, micrograms, milligrams or grams.
- Optionally enter a Concentration (mg/mL) to also get the equivalent volume in millilitres.
- Under Weight-Based Arithmetic, enter the Body Weight in kilograms and the Rate (mg/kg). This rate field is intentionally always blank by default, you must enter it yourself from the official prescribing information for the specific drug, since this tool never supplies or suggests this number.
- Under IV Drip Rate, enter the Volume in mL, the Drop Factor (gtt/mL) printed on the giving set packaging, commonly 10, 15, 20, or 60 for micro-drip, and the Time in hours.
- Tap Calculate to see all the unit conversions and arithmetic results together.
Step 3: Using Body Surface Area mode
- Switch to the Body Surface Area tab. Enter Height in cm and Weight in kg.
